Teaching
A dedicated teacher, Kathryn joined the faculty of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester as Professor of Piano in 2020. She has enjoyed a close relationship with the College for many years and is delighted to be focusing on developing her class in Manchester. Kathryn’s focus is to encourage young musicians to find their potential not only as pianists, but as creatives ready to go out into the profession with ideas for an exciting life in music. She is also an Associate Professor at Rossall School.
Internationally recognised for her teaching ability, Kathryn gives masterclasses and workshops for both pianists and chamber ensembles whether the students are studying in Conservatoires, in schools or put forward by a particular music association. Kathryn also gives private lessons in Manchester.
Chamber music has always been a major part of Kathryn's musical life and she is delighted to be spending more time coaching ensembles (with or without piano!) for ECMA at the RNCM, Chamber Studio and various courses including the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme.
